What is SNZ?

Background
There is a growing popular and media interest in the climate emergency. Much of the discussion positions all humans equally responsible for and vulnerable to the effects of human-induced climate change. However, it is well established that groups that experience economic, cultural, racial, regional, and generational marginalisation are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Such marginalised groups have fewer resources to enable effective response to the effects, have less political and economic power to influence change and their voices and experiences tend to be excluded from public debate.
This project explores how members of marginalized groups in Perth understand the climate emergency and how our communities might be affected by the proposals suggested by governments, scientists and businesses. We are using a creative and collaborative process where members of these groups are invited to identify and discuss issues and concerns that might be unique to your community. You will work both individually and collaboratively to imagine alternative solutions to the climate crisis that suit you and your community. Through this research we are hoping to empower you and your community in sharing your vision the future.
